The Exacting Tooth Fairy
Blossom was dismayed this morning. "The tooth fairy didn't come last night. Why didn't she come mom?"
"I don't know. Maybe so many kids lost teeth yesterday that she just couldn't get to yours last night."
"I don't think so."
"Well why do you think she didn't come?" I asked.
"Maybe because my room wasn't clean enough?"
Brilliant Child. I bet that room is clean tonight.
That tooth fairy had better show.

that reminds me that the last time the tooth fairy came to our house, she put the prize there but didn't take the tooth. which presented a moral dilema for my child. if the tooth remained, would the fairy think it was a new one? was there a protocol to deal with this kind of situation? why didn't the fairy take the tooth? was she sick? confused? tired? (yes, yes, yes) i think we ended up planning to have the child write a note, and leave it telling the situation. but that never happened either, and who knows where that ole tooth has ended up now. it's been one crazy month!
