Belly Rings
For her last 'date' with me, Blossom asked to get her ears pierced. So I took her to get her ears pierced.
"You gonna take her for her tattoo next?" her daddy asked. I never knew he was such a fan of the slippery slope theory.
She's four, old enough to understand not to yank them out or smear them with poo. And she's tough and she knows what she wants. She did not shed one tear and you should have seen how proud she was when all the pretty ladies with big hair and gobs of mascara made a fuss over the big girl with no tears. That girl LOVEs positive feedback. She's a feedback Monster.
So tonight, when Dh asked her what she wanted to do for her next date.
"Daddy, I want a belly ring."

I ended up here after reading the NYT article. I am past the home with little kids years, but oh, if blogging had existed when I was there. Thak you for sharing your (universal) experiences, thank you for sharing your voice. Freeing the sandbox, and all it's profundity from ghettoization. I really appreciate this and certainly will return for spiritual uplifting and thought.

My first Comment! Hi Peg, I'm glad you like it. I'm excited to write about my kids, even if no one ever reads it. Isn't that just typical of mothers?

I have enjoyed reading at FMH, and now it is even more fun to get a better glimpse of in your daily environment. I was at a real low in my love for mothering when I started blogging, and blogs like FMH in conjunction with more personal sites and interactions have made all the difference in the world! Thank you!
